Russia defaulted on $100 million in interest payments, its first default since 1918. I can’t believe there are news media trying to convince you that the sanctions are having no effect. Russia is screwed, and it scared China. I suspect the West, including the EU, NATO, and particularly Germany, as well as Japan and Australia rallying around the U.S. in joint sanctions have set back China’s invasion of Taiwan by several years.
China’s economy is trashed right now and Xi doesn’t want to risk even secondary sanctions, which is why he has backed off of overt support for Russia.
