Sadly, we all knew Hong Kong’s fate and that the only hope against the ever-ratcheting hand of Beijing is the fall of the CCP regime. Somehow, the death of Her Majesty feels like a final signal that no one is coming to the rescue.
Meanwhile, the government of Britain invited a representative of the Chinese Communist Party to her funeral, while Taiwan was only permitted to sign the condolence book.
And on the same day, His Holiness, (God forgive me for criticizing Him), He “reached out a hand to China”. For what? Beijing does not allow Chinese Catholics to recognize His Holiness, the Pope, and the Communist Party appoints the Bishops.
She wasn’t our queen. America would never join the Commonwealth, because we fought a war for independence and democracy. But, she had been an admired personage, a leader with dignity and grace, whom Americans respected and secretly admired, for generations.
Her death, for me, represents the end of an era, a time when the world made more sense and when freedom meant the right to be free, not the right to toe-the-line.
Let our thoughts and prayers be with the British people and those of the Commonwealth who mourn the passing of their beloved king. And let Christians and people of all faiths, everywhere pray that our nation and the world will find its way once again.
All that it takes for evil to triumph on this world is for the leaders of the most powerful nations to be passive and let it happen. But the fall seems to be coming at an accelerated pace, as the leaders of the most powerful nations are complicit.
